Standing in the Need of Prayer
Today, I am asking everyone if they would please pray for me to receive guidance from God as to where I should go next in this journey of life. As long as I am breathing, my greatest desire is to serve God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength. Each day e face an infinite number of possibilities- so many in fact, that it can be overwhelming.
I feel called to start Hotel Dieu for Women - a project of Refurbished Homes by Refurbished People. Through the adventures of the past years, the need for these two missions has become more and more pressing.
There are many disabled people living on the streets or in substandard housing that puts their lives in danger each day and drains their financial resources -Refurbished Homes by Refurbished People could be an excellent solution to this problem and help people with disabilities live happier healthier lives. I think the most distressing thing I have seen over my past years of intermittent homelessness was a young man with no legs manoeuvering himself out of a manual wheelchair onto a low cot in a room full of beds that barely had standing room between them. Over and over again, I have been led to meet many homeless people with disabilities and people with disabilities who have shared horror stories of not being able to get to important doctor appointments because the elevator in their building was not working for several days.
I have heard horror stories of people having to choose between paying their rent and eating. Refurbished Homes by Refurbished People is needed immediately!
In addition to this, I have had the opportunity to see that there is also a desperate need for Hotel Dieu for Women- safe sober, scent-free facilities for women who want to serve God, There are numerous facilities to help women who are fleeing domestic violence, or battling addictions, but there is little for women who have been battered by life. Hotel Dieu for Women services are desperately needed to sustain women who wish to honour God with their lives.
This is the beginning of a new year. Rosh Hashanah means "Head of the Year" .As we enter this new year, I find many possibilities before me. I a looking forward to clearing my mind of past regretful sins so I can grow closer to God in the coming year and make way for entering into new possibilities with a clean heart.
What are you praying for today?
